Chandler of London , Ca 1765.
Possibly Edward Chandler who was app to John Wightman 27 Sep 1717.
A very rare English brass cased travelling clock . The eight day movement with restored verge escapement and fully engraved backplate. The bell is underslung within the movement to allow room for the hammer in what is a neat and unusually shaped case. A similar arrangement is employed by the famous clockmaker John Ellicott but with a remote pivoted hammer on the side for the same reason. An extremely smart little clock impervious to the beetle on the grand tour.
